A Special Donation

2018-07-28

Since the large public charitable education fund named“Xiangjiao•My University Dream” was launched, Xiangjiao Distillery Co., Ltd. and Hunan Youth Development Foundation have received donations and blessings from people from all walks of life to support poor students.

Among those donations, one of RMB 1,000 came from a donor named Yi Luanying, who was once a student funded by Xiangjiao under the program of“ Hope from Xiangjiao”in 2013. As a person who was once “helped” and who finallybecomes a “helper” through "self-help", Yi Luanying surprised the people of Xiangjiao and gratified many social charitable activists with her kindness.

In the summer of 2013, Yi Luanying was admitted to Hunan Normal University, but her family was very poor. When she was worried about her tuition, the “Hope from Xiangjiao” brought hope to her. She, along with 49 other poor students, successfully applied for a scholarship of RMB 10,000. The money put her through the hard times and she finished the four-year college studies. In college, she also supported herself by participating in social practice and doing part-time jobs. After graduating from college, Yi Luanying became a teacher and changed her destiny.

“I have always been grateful for the support from Xiangjiao. Now I want to do my bit,” said Yi Luanying. Having struggled with poverty, she wants to help those poor students in need and bring them hope.

"I didn't expect that a college student we once helped would now turn out to be our teammate in public welfare. I am so pleased. This is the original intention and motivation of our commitment to supporting poor students," said Yan Tao, president of Jindong Group and president of Hunan Xiangjiao Distillery Co., Ltd. “The large public charitable education fund ‘Xiangjiao•My University Dream’ donates at least RMB 5 million every year. It offers a scholarship of RMB 5,000 for each poor high school graduate who takes the college entrance examination in Hunan and is admitted to a full-time ordinary college. At least 1,000 students benefit from this program and have their university dream come true.”
